The Quanta FEG 250 features three modes of operation, high vacuum, low vacuum and ESEM. Achievable resolution is 1.2nm at 30kV and 2.3nm at 1kV with beam deceleration in high vacuum using the in column detector. Low vacuum mode enables imaging of insulating samples without metal coating, and ESEM mode can be used for imaging of high-vacuum incompatible specimens which are impossible to investigate with traditional EM methods. The Pathfinder EDS software from Thermo Scientific enables user friendly energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis (EDX). The stage can accommodate samples up to 50mm diameter.
